Dr. Grauer earned his DVM from Iowa State University in 1978. He then futhered his veterinary career by completing an internship , residency, and earning his Master’s in Science from Colorado State University. He became the Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary School from 1982 to 1989. He then returned to Colorado State University where he was Associate Professor and Professor and Section Chief of Small Animal Medicine and Critical Care until 2000. Later in 2000, he became Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences at Kansas State University. He is currently Professor Emeritus at KSU where he teaches 3rd and 4th year students and continues his research and clinical treatments on small animal urinary diseases and disorders. He is a diplomate of the ACVIM and has authored numerous publications.

Dr. Berger was born and raised in Iowa. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Iowa and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. Following graduation, he worked as a general practitioner and emergency veterinarian in Des Moines, IA prior to completing a dermatology residency in Phoenix, Az. Dr. Berger is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology, was a tenured associate professor at Iowa State University, and now works with Elanco Animal Health

Dr. Eberts is an Elanco regional consulting veterinarian for companion animals. He received his DVM in 1999 from Ohio State University and completed an internship at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Teaching Hospital. After the internship, he moved Brainerd, Minnesota to work at Lakeland Veterinary Hospital, becoming medical director and co-owner. The northwoods of Minnesota is a hotspot of tick infections and managing tick-transmitted disease is a pillar of practice. Matt became involved in research regarding managing and diagnosing tick-borne infections, leading to multiple publications and academic presentations. He joined the team at Elanco Animal Health in 2016.

Dr. Bosse was born and raised in the coastal plains region of North Carolina where he discovered his passion for science and, at an early age, decided to pursue veterinary medicine. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from North Carolina State University while also starting his career as a kennel assistant. Additionally, he became an assistant in a microbiology lab on the veterinary college campus while in undergraduate studies. He learned the fundamentals of research and met many of his soon-to-be mentors. He completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at NC State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Immediately following graduation, Dr. Bosse completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship at VCA’s Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT. This granted him invaluable experience and mentorship in multiple disciplines within internal medicine, emergency, and surgery. Dr. Bosse moved west to the San Francisco Bay area of
northern California, where he honed his skills as a small animal veterinarian and diagnostician. He has greatly benefited throughout his time here by having been a longtime associate veterinarian at a DACVIM-owned practice
and working closely with specialists of many disciplines in the area. When not practicing medicine, Philip enjoys spending time outside hiking, fishing, and playing beach volleyball.

  • Fine-Tuning Deworming and Implant Strategies With Dr. Dirk Burken

Dr. Dirk Burken is currently a Managing Nutritionist with
the Beef Strategic Technical Services team at Zoetis. He has been a part of the Zoetis team since 2019 with his main role encompassing the support of customers and colleagues across the Midwest and beyond.
Originally from Central Nebraska, Dr. Burken is well versed in operations and practical management of beef cattle. His background in production ranges from growing up on his family cow/calf operation, which he is still actively involved with, to working in a variety of positions within feedyard operations across Nebraska. Dr. Burken has also served as a staff feedyard nutritionist, as well as a feedyard manager for a large cattle-feeding group in Alberta, Canada. Dr. Burken has a bachelor’s degree in animal science from
the University of Nebraska, a master’s in animal scienceruminant nutrition from Oklahoma State University, a doctorate in animal science-ruminant nutrition from the University of Nebraska, and a MBA from the University of Nebraska.
